Seeking alignment

Uniformity with people who do not follow God is possible. Unity is not. That is, unless I choose to sacrifice truth and ignore wickedness. Being 'unequally yoked' not only involves relationships of intimacy (i.e. dating and marriage), but also relationships with friends and, maybe more importantly, business dealings. Seeing how King Jehoshaphat aligned himself with wicked King Ahab through marriage, politics, military, and business is an example to me of how I attempt to thwart God's plan for me by not seeking His will in all areas of my life. I can never find what I am looking for in life outside the will of God. He loves me too much for my wandering plans to succeed.

Submission

When you seek God's will, do you want to know it so you can then decided if you will follow Him? Shouldn't we just submit, not always knowing what His will is?

What am I afraid of?

I have never feared for my life. I have never been in war or faced hunger. I have never faced disease that could be easily cured with the right treatment but faced lack of access to that treatment. I have never had to go without drinkable water because of flooding or lack of a purification system. My inconveniences are relatively minor when compared to the rest of the world. I have not had to face fear that would threaten my life or well-being. The fears we face in our country are different. We fear making the wrong decisions in work, school, business, or in our social circles. We are blessed with an economy and infrastructure beyond imagination, yet fear loss of small parts of it. When king Jehoshaphat received word that armies were approaching to attack Judah, he was afraid. He knew he faced a "great multitude" of warriors.
